Anja Huwe/ Xmal Deutschland

Anja Huwe is the iconic singer of the forerunners of the post-punk movement – Xmal Deutschland. After the band’s success with four albums on cult labels such as 4 AD records, Huwe pursued a career in visual arts, still following her passion in music via various creative platforms. She came back to the international music scene with a bang in early 2024 with the successful release of her solo album CODES, along with exclusive re-releases of early Xmal Deutschland tracks, both on Sacred Bones Records, New York. The album, written and produced together with fellow 80s artist Mona Mur, features distinctive electronic sounds as well as Manuela Rickers’ unique Xmal guitar style. Worldwide press, from The Guardian to Rolling Stone, from THE WIRE to Galore, celebrated the “comeback of the year” and the album with rave reviews and demanded the artist’s return on stage.

Due to this demand, Anja Huwe decided to perform her exquisite solo album CODES live on stage along with a solid selection of Xmal Deutschland classics in modern interpretations – with a new line – up, set into light by her signature visual art.
